    Howard Burton Hocking, 77, of Albion, IL passed from this life to the next on September 4, 2018 at his home.
    Burton was born October 2, 1940 in Albion to Evelyn Louise (Michels) and Howard Allen Hocking. He married Donna Mason on January 14, 1961 at West Village Christian Church, and she survives.
    He started farming at 13 years old and farmed his whole life. He loved his livestock. Burton was a member of the West Village Christian Church where he served as a deacon, an elder, a Sunday School teacher, and a Brotherhood sponsor. He had served on the FHA Board, Edwards County School Board, and was a member of the Edwards County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed selling sweet corn in the summer.
    Burton is survived by his wife of 57 years, Donna; three daughters: Sharlee (Dan) Aaron, Merilee (Shad) McKinzie, and Tonya (Billy) Potts, all of Albion; six grandchildren: Michael (Ashley) Aaron of Kirkwood, MO, Travis Burton Aaron of Albion, Lindsey McKinzie of Albion, Seth McKinzie of Albion, Shayla Potts of Albion, and Jonah Potts of Albion; two sisters: Lila (Edwin) Fewkes of Albion and Loretta (Ron) Fryman of Bone Gap, IL; one brother, Donovan (Barb) Hocking of Shelbyville, IL; and a special friend, Chris Spray. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Hocking.
    Visitation will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 7, 2018 at 10 a.m. at West Village Christian Church with burial to follow in West Village Cemetery.
    Memorials may be made to: Pinehaven Christian Children’s Ranch, Edwards County Senior Citizens, or the West Village Cemetery. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
