      Naomi F. Beichel, 96, of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL.

      Naomi was born July 1, 1921, to Bert and Mamie (nee Hollis) Hobbs, in Trenton, IL. On June 21, 1941, she married Francis Beichel in St. Charles, MO.

      She grew up on the family farm which was located about 3 ½ miles north of Trenton. Naomi attended the one room school known as the Sugar Creek School. After moving to Trenton, she attended High School, and then worked as a telephone operator until it closed. After marriage, she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a telephone operator and later worked in the business office.

      She was a member of Grantfork United Church of Christ and a member of their Women’s Guild, who quilted quilts for people who couldn’t do it for themselves. She enjoyed quilting very much. Naomi was also noted for her chocolate chip cookies, which someone was always asking her to bake.

      Naomi is survived by her son, Doug Beichel, Highland, IL; granddaughter, Brittney (Dale) Porter, Port Isabell, TX; niece Denise Thole, Grantfork, IL.

      She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Francis Beichel; parents, Bert and Mamie Hobbs; brothers, William and Leonard Hobbs.

      Memorials may be made to Grantfork United Church of Christ or the Grantfork UCC Women’s Guild.

      Graveside Service: Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11:00 am at Highland City Cemetery Highland, IL.
