Elizabeth I. “Irene” (nee Loomis) Marti, 74, of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at her residence.
Irene was born May 4, 1943, to Robert and Lillian (nee Hamilton) Loomis, in East. Prairie, MO. On May 4, 1963, she married Jerry Marti, in Highland, IL.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a former member of the Quarterback Club.
She ran a home daycare for many years, watching more than 100 kids including multiple generations. She lived to take care of children and make their lives better. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She attended all of her kids’ sporting events and then all of her grandchildren’s sporting events. She loved to bake and was known as the “Kirchenride Cookie Lady.”
She is survived by her Husband, Jerry Marti, Highland, IL; Children, Debbie (Kent) Zobrist, Highland, IL, Craig (Jody) Marti, Highland, IL, Chad (Kelly) Marti, Branson, MO; Grandchildren, Jason (Kate) Zobrist, Whitney Zobrist, Cody (significant other, Chaise DeJournett) Zobrist, Chloe Marti, Gabriel Marti, Ava, Allyssa & Anna Marti; Brothers, Robert Loomis, Calvin Loomis, Richard (Patti) Loomis, Alfred (Mary) Loomis, Van (Alicia) Loomis, Charlie (Dee) Loomis, James Gothard, William Gothard, Cliff Pate; Sister, Lucy (Bob) Ellis; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Robert and Lillian Loomis; Brother, Steve Loomis; Sisters, Patty Beardsley, Mary Loomis, in infancy; Sister-in-Law, Shirley Loomis.
Memorials may be made to St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Association or Jill Frey Scholarship Fund.
Visitation: Friday, May 19, 2017, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, and Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 7:30 to 8:30 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 9:00 am, at St Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.
Clergy: Rev. Pat Jakel, Pastor.
Interment: Highland City Cemetery.
