David M. Forys, 72, of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at his home with his family by his side.
David was born May 21, 1944, to John and Helen (Nee Lipinski) Forys, in Granite City, IL. On June 8, 1968, he married Barbara Mejaski at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Madison, IL.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, Knights of Columbus, St. Stanislaus Lodge Polish Roman Catholic Union 1044 (PRCU) and Cursillo.
David loved his family, especially the highlight of his life, his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, camping and travelling, his 2 favorite places to go to were Rome, Italy and Las Vegas, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Forys; son, Matthew Thomas Forys; brothers, Edward Forys and Eugene Forys.
David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Forys, Highland, IL; son, David Christopher Forys, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Christopher Matthew Forys, David Stephen Forys and Elise Marie Forys; sisters, Leona Parizon, Marine, IL and Mary Ann Liszewski, Troy, IL; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Church or St. Paul Education Foundation.
Visitation: Thursday, August 18, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, August 19, 2016, from 8:00 to 9:30 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, August 19, 2016, at 10:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church.
