    Vivian I. Clayton (nee Pemberton), 87, of Pocahontas, IL, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Frontier Health and Rehab Center, St. Charles, MO.

    Vivian was born November 12, 1928 to John and Ida (nee Cruthis) Pemberton, in Millersburg, IL. On July 3, 1947, she married Alvin Clayton, in Greenville, IL.

    She was a member of Pocahontas United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL. She and her husband sang in the Church Choir and then she continued to sing after his death. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Vivian was an avid bird watcher, a great baker and cook and a great gardener.

    Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Pemberton; husband, Alvin Clayton; sister, Isabell Adams; brothers, John Pemberton, Don Pemberton.

    She is survived by her children, Terri (Randy) Hoover, St. Peters, MO, Randy (Marilyn) Clayton, Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Ann (Jeremy) Reece, Belleville, IL, Stephen Tepatti, Florissant, MO, Taylor Clayton, Springfield, IL; great-grandchildren, Vincent Tepatti, Conner Reece, Andrew Reece; several step-children; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; step-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sylvia Adams, Hartford, IL.

    Memorials may be made to Pocahontas United Methodist Church, Pocahontas American Legion or Pocahontas Old Ripley Fire Department.

    Visitation: Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL, and Friday, August 5, 2016, from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Pocahontas United Methodist Church.

    Funeral: Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:00 am at Pocahontas United Methodist Church.

    Clergy: Rev. Adam Penn, Pastor; Rev. Dave Trover, Ret’d Pastor.

    Interment: Robinson Cemetery, Pocahontas, IL.
