    William Hoffman “Bill” Wood, 75, of Lebanon, IL, passed to the next life January 16, 2011, at Friendship Manor, Nashville, IL.

    Bill was born November 23, 1935 to William F. and Emily G. (nee Hoffman) Wood, in South Weymouth, MA.  He grew up and graduated High School in Gratz, PA.

    He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He retired in 1997 after 25 years with the U. S. Postal Service; and along with his loving wife, Mary Lou, operated the Lebanon Dairy Queen for 20 years.  He also served in the U.S. Army with the 62nd Artillery at Marine, IL.

    Bill was a member of the St. Paul U.C.C. in Lebanon and served in many leadership roles, including Council Chairperson and the Dubois Center Church Camp Auxiliary.  He was also a leader in the community throughout his life, serving as an Alderman and as a volunteer to build and open the Lebanon Visitor Center.  He was a member of the Lions Club and directed the summer youth baseball program and enjoyed coaching and umping.

    Bill was preceded in death by his parents William F. and Emily G. Wood.

    He is survived by: His Wife, Mary Lou Wood; 2 Sons, Brent (Donna) Wood, Lebanon, IL, Douglas (Mikol) Wood, Rural Trenton, IL; 2 Grandchildren, Blake and Jenna Wood; 2 Step-Grandchildren, Sydney and Myranda.

    Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association.

    Visitation: Friday, January 21, 2011, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at St. Paul U.C.C., Lebanon, IL

    Funeral: Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul U.C.C.
