    Margaret Ellen Whaley, 85, of O’Fallon, died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Kindred St. Anthony’s Nursing Center, St. Louis, MO.

    She was born April 2, 1926, to Arthur and Wilmoth (nee Boswell) Laur, in Mt. Vernon, IL.  On October 26, 1953, she married Charles Whaley at the Presbyterian Church, Granite City, IL.

    Margaret was a Librarian, working at Lebanon City Library for many years.  She was a member of 1st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL.  She was a member of the Women’s Club, and a former member and past President of Daughters of Rebekah, Lebanon, IL.  She loved to spend time with her granddaughters.  She enjoyed her friends and she liked to travel.

    She is survived by her 2 children, Patrick (Marjorie) Whaley, Millstadt, IL, Janet (John) Fox, Columbia, IL; 4 granddaughters, Katherine “Kate” (John) Roustio, Elizabeth “Libby” Whaley, Allison Fox, Sarah Fox; numerous nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Wilmoth Laur; her husband, Charles Whaley; 1 sister, Alberta Paoli.

    Memorials may be made to Lebanon City Library.

    Visitation: Tuesday, March 27, 2012, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL.

    Funeral: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Meyer Funeral Home.

    Clergy: Rev. Peter Wehrly, Pastor, 1st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, IL

    Interment: Sunset Hills Cemetery, Edwardsville, IL.
