    Franklin R. Stone, 75, of Greenville, IL, died March 11, 2011, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home, Greenville, IL.

    He was born August 13, 1935, to Joel and Mildred (nee Cline) Stone, in Pittsburgh, IL.  In November 1975 he married Pauline Gannon in Vandalia, IL.

    Franklin worked for Laclede Steel, Alton, IL repairing and building railroad.  He served in the Marine Corp. during Korean War.  He was a member of V F W, Vandalia, IL.

    Franklin is survived by 3 children, Rebecca Quick, Greenville, IL; Cindy Stone, Alhambra, IL, Franklin E. Stone, Bingham, IL; 3 step-children, Bill Saylors, Alhambra, IL, Peggy Barnhart, Pocahontas, IL, Terry (Wayne) Thomas, Sorento, IL; 16 Grandchildren; 11 Great-Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Mildred Stone; his wife, Pauline Gannon; 5 brothers and 1 sister.

    Visitation: Monday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.

    Funeral: Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home.

    Clergy: Rev. Dave Trover, Pastor, United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL

    Interment: Maxey Cemetery, Smithboro, IL.
