James E. “Jim” Plocher, 61, of Highland, IL, died April 18, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL. He was born October 1, 1948 at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL, the eldest son of Edwin A. and Ann W. (nee Korte) Plocher. He married Kaye (nee Nagel) August 24, 1968 at St. Paul Church, Highland, IL.
SURVIVORS: His wife, three children, Jennifer K. (Tim) Whitten, Highland, IL; Matthew James (Justine) Plocher, St. Louis, MO; Edwin Joseph Plocher, Highland, IL; Grandchildren: Samantha Grace and Lukas James Whitten of Highland; and Claudia and Matthew James Plocher II of St. Louis, MO; Parents, five brothers, Gene (Jane) Plocher, Highland; Chuck (Yvonne) Plocher, Bedford, IN; David (Mary) Plocher, O’Fallon, IL; Bob (Mitzi) Plocher, Alhambra, IL; Mark (Laurie) Plocher, Highland, IL; three sisters, Pat (John) Hoffman, Dwight, IL; Marilyn (Tommie) Newman, Kewanee, IL; Carol (Mike) Henschen, Alhambra, IL; Mother-in-Law, Ruth Nagel, sisters-in-law, Joyce (Ron) Tebbe and Lynn (Dr. James) Rehberger; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a graduate of St. Paul High School, Highland, IL; SIU – Carbondale, IL where he worked on Dairy Test Farm and as “Sandwich Man”. After graduating, he helped on the Dairy Farm of Clarence and Ruth Korte for a short time. He was then employed by the U of I Extension Service in Kankakee County for four years as Assistant Farm Advisor. He then worked as an agent for Country Companies from 1975 – 1987. He was hired by Mariah Boats in Benton, IL and worked there from 1987 to 1998. He returned to Highland in January, 1998 and was a Financial Representative for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network until his death.
He was a member of Highland Council 1580 Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight 2003 – 2005; Highland Rotary Club; St. Paul Education Foundation Board; Highland Area Community Foundation Board Member; AALU (Association of Advanced Life Underwriters) NAIFA (National Association of Insurance Financial Advisors). He was a lector at St. Paul Church. He enjoyed Golf, Cardinal Ballgames, Gardening, Harley Riding, Boating, Playing Bridge and spending time with his family and friends.
