    Ret.’d USAF CMSGT, Nolan P. “Pete” Pearson, 83, of Lebanon, IL died Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Lebanon Care Center, Lebanon, IL.

    Pete was born February 2, 1928 in Silverton, AL, to August and Ruth Elizabeth (nee Olson) Pearson.  On November 23, 1958 he married Marilyn Wilson in Gastonia, NC.

    Pete served in the Air Force for 33 years, retiring in 1984 as a Chief Master Sergeant, a rank only the top 1% of all enlisted men attain.  He participated in the Berlin Airlift and served in Vietnam.

    He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church, Ariton, AL.  He was a member of the Masons and Shriners.  He was the best husband and father anyone could ask for.  He loved to work in the yard.  He loved his dogs.  He was always willing to help others.  More than anything, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Pearson, Lebanon, IL; his son, Phillip D. (Mary) Pearson, Lebanon, IL; his daughter, Myra (Mark) Hanson, CO; four grandchildren, Kristina (Brent) Phillips, Emily Pearson, Brandy (Bryce) Eldridge, Nicholas Hanson; three great-grandchildren, Braiden, Landon, Oliver; one sister, Dorothy Kanne; one brother, Arvid Pearson.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Ruth Elizabeth Pearson; two brothers, Percy and Donald Pearson.

    Funeral: Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Meyer Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL.

    Officiating: Mike Garrison, Chaplain, Heartland Hospice.

    Interment: College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.
