    Lloyd A. Vrell, 85, of Lebanon, IL, died Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Cedar Ridge Rehabilitation Center, Lebanon, IL.

    Lloyd was born September 29, 1930, to Ralph and Alta (nee Elliott) Vrell, in Canton, IL.  On February18, 1951, he married Lois Launer in St. Louis, MO.

    After high school he enlisted as a reservist in the U S Army and was called up to active duty for the Korean Conflict, where he served for more than a year.  Upon returning home, he became a firefighter at Scott Air Force Base rising to the rank of Assistant Chief before retirement.

    He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Lebanon, IL, and a lifetime member of the American Legion in Lebanon, IL.  Lloyd was also a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Lebanon.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, a real outdoorsman.  He would do anything to help anybody.  He loved spending time with his family.

    He is survived by his daughters, Catherine (Dennis) Schulte, Trenton, IL, Barbara Vrell, Lebanon, IL, and Mindy (J.R.) Shirley, Trenton, IL; grandchildren, Karen (Scott) Noggle, Diana (Adam) Koch, Victoria (Damian) Colon, Clinton (Jessye) Gray, Sherrie Ann (Aaron) Bohnenstiehl, Jennifer Shirley, and Brett Shirley; great grandchildren, Taylor, Courtney, Aidan, Noah, David, Alexander, Brody, and Brynley.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois “Millie” Vrell (2014); parents, Ralph and Alta Vrell; grandchildren, Jackie Schwehr and David Schulte; brother, Eugene Vrell. 

    Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ. 

    Visitation:  Saturday, February 6, 2016, from 8:30 – 10:30 am, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Lebanon, IL.

    Funeral Service:  Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 10:30 am at St. Paul UCC.

    Clergy:  Rev. Dr. Don Wagner, Pastor, St. Paul United Church of Christ, Lebanon, IL.

    Interment:  College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.
