Rebecca J. Stevens (nee Bridgman), 51, died Saturday, October 24, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, IL.

Rebecca was born on February 29, 1964, to Roger and Jana (nee Hopper) Bridgman in Mattoon, IL.  On October 15, 2011, she married Michael E. Stevens in St. Charles, MO.

Becky was born and raised in Central Illinois and graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1982.  Becky moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the FBI when she was in her early twenties, but soon moved back to the Midwest.  In 1995 she moved to St. Peters, MO, and lived in the St. Louis metro area ever since.

Becky re-connected with her childhood friend, Mike, in late 2010, and they married in October, 2011.  To them their marriage was like a fairy tale—they loved each other so much.  Becky and Mike were inseparable.  They enjoyed doing everything together and did more living, loving and laughing in the last five years than many do in a lifetime.

Becky loved life, and she lived it well.  She was the eternal optimist and looked for the good in everything and everyone.  Becky was genuine, caring, and had a heart of gold.  She had a personality that drew people to her.  You knew within minutes of meeting Becky that she was someone you wanted to call “friend.”  She enjoyed camping, rooting for her Cubbies, spending time with family and laughing with her many, many good friends who meant so much to her.  More than anything else, though, Becky enjoyed being Mom to Shaine and Grandma to Ezra Lee.  We will miss Becky’s beautiful smile, shining eyes and warm heart.  She left us with many wonderful memories and friendship that we will cherish forever.  We will love you always, Becky.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Stevens; son,  Shaine Khanamuenwai; stepdaughter,  Kristin Stevens; stepson, Mark Stevens; grandson, Ezra Lee Khanamuenwai; mother and stepfather, Jana and Paul Wood; sister, Jacqueline Potts; brother, Roger L. Bridgman; father-in-law, G.E. Stevens.

She was preceded in death by her stepson, Eric Stevens; father, Roger Bridgman; brother, Bernard Bridgman; mother-in-law, Pat Stevens.

A celebration of Life Service is planned for Sunday, November 8, 2015, 12:00 to 5:00 pm, at the new Town Event Planning Center, St. Charles, MO.
