Freeman “Bud” Rommerskirchen, 86, of Highland, IL, died Monday, May 25, 2015, at Breese Nursing Home.
Freeman was born July 17, 1928, to Frank and Lena (nee Wafflard) Rommerskirchen in Pocahontas, IL. On March 14, 1954, he married Deloris Carter at the Assembly of God Church in Pocahontas, IL.
He was a member of the Teamsters and was a truck driver for Cassens Transport Company for many years. He owned and operated the Wikiup Motel in Pocahontas, IL. He also drove school buses in Pocahontas and Highland.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris R. Rommerskirchen; 3 children, Curtis (Ruth Ann) Rommerskirchen, Pocahontas, IL, Karen (Martin) Wilfong, Pocahontas, IL, and Steven Rommerskirchen, Bethalto, IL; 9 grandchildren, Eric Rommerskirchen and Ian (Lee Anne) Rommerskirchen, Scott (Erin) Wilfong, Daniel (Kathryn) Wilfong, and Andrew (Rachel) Wilfong, William, Valerie, Elizabeth, and Isaac Rommerskirchen; 2 step grandchildren, Makayla and Paul “PJ” Diebold; 8 great grandchildren, Caleb and Hayden Marie Rommerskirchen, Scottie, Amelia, Karoline, Drake, EmmaLeigh, and HaLeigh Wilfong; a sister, Edna Clanton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lena Rommerskirchen; 3 brothers, Frank, Jr, in infancy, Bobby and Simon Rommerskirchen.
Memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church or Last Days Ministry.
Visitation: Friday, June 5, 2015, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday, June 6, 2015, from 8:00 to 10:00 am, at the Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.
