    Dorothy Marian Hoffman, 86, died Monday, April 20, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Clayton, MO.  She was born May 29, 1928, in Highland, IL, one of identical twin daughters to Oscar Frank and Leona Louise (nee Bellm) Hoffman.

    Dorothy attended St. Paul Grade and High School.  She began her career as Executive Secretary to the Advertising Manager of Pet Milk Company in St. Louis, MO, for 9 years.   Later she moved to California and worked as Secretary to the Account Executive at Batten, Burton, Durstine, and Osborn Advertising Agency in Los Angeles.

    She married Robert Hayes Boyd on October 15, 1955, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL.  They resided in Springfield, IL, for 24 years.  While in Springfield, she was employed as Secretary to the Assistant Plant Manager of Pillsbury Mills until 1959.  Her son, John Robert, was born on September 11, 1959, and her daughter, Elizabeth Ann, was born on February 13, 1961.   Bob passed away on March 11, 2004.  She was later employed as Secretary to State Representative Cal Skinner for 2 years.

    Dorothy moved to St. Louis to accept a position as Administrative Assistant to the President of BHN Advertising Company, and later as Executive Secretary to the Real Estate Manager of Famous Barr Venture Stores for 9 years.  She moved to Highland in 1990 and was employed by Thomas Hill, Attorney at Law, before retiring in 1992.

    Dorothy was an avid quilter and seamstress.  She enjoyed traveling the world, reading, theater, and the St. Louis Cardinals.

     She is survived by her son, John R. Boyd, of Satellite Beach, FL; her daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” (Paul Conner) Boyd of St. Louis, MO; a twin sister, Doris Mary Luber of Highland, IL.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Leona Hoffman; her husband, Robert Boyd; her paternal grandparents, Francis Xavier and Ida Walter Hoffman; her maternal grandparents, Henry and Rosa Bellm. 

    Her body was donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine.
