Jerry W. Bandy, 69, of Highland, IL, died Monday, January 19, 2015, at Faith Care Center, Highland, IL, with his family by his side.
Jerry was born January 21, 1945 to Gerald L. and Vada H. (nee Baugher) Bandy at St. Anthony’s Hospital, St. Louis, MO. On September 9, 1967, he married Brenda Coss at the First Baptist Church, Litchfield, IL.
He loved photography and astronomy. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved to take fishing and rock hunting. He enjoyed riding his bike and taking walks. He looked forward to vacations with his family. He loved to sketch and paint and, on occasion, could be a jokester.
He worked for Boeing for more than 25 years, retiring as a design engineer. He loved his job and the people he worked with.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bandy, Highland, IL; 1 daughter, Michelle (Tim) Rusteberg, Highland, IL; 2 granddaughters, Marisa and Emma Rusteberg; 2 sisters, Edna M. (Ronald) Sample, Sorento, IL, and Joyce E. (Larry) Baker, Elizabethtown, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Lee and Vada H. Bandy.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
Visitation: Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, January 23, 2015, from 8:00 to 11:00 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
Funeral Service: Friday, January 23, 2015, at 11:00 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
Clergy: Rev. Dr. Sheldon Culver, Conference Minister, United Church of Christ.
