Gregory Gerard Holthaus, 18, of Highland, IL, died Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Columbia, MO.
Greg was born January 6, 1995, to Mark and Gail (Nee Staggenborg) Holthaus, at Christian Northwest Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Greg was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL. In high school, he was a member of Leo Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, "Lumberjack Club" and Spanish Club. He played Varsity Football and Baseball at Highland High School. He just started assisting the baseball coach at Highland Middle School and really loved helping the kids. He was a 2013 graduate of Highland High School and enrolled at Ranken Technical College.
Greg helped many people with social anxieties. He was a self-taught piano player. He was gregarious and never met a stranger. He was a leader; he had character and maturity beyond his years. He was a great son, good brother and fun uncle. He was the life of every occasion and at the same time; he was the voice of reason. He was a natural salesman.
He is survived by his parents, Mark and Gail Holthaus, Highland, IL; grandparents, Norbert B. and Alice Holthaus, Nokomis, IL; brothers and sisters, Andrew P. (Melanie) Holthaus, Eileen (Jeremy) Sackett, Mary Ellen Holthaus, John J. “Jack” Holthaus; nieces and nephews, Hayden, Skyler and Chloe Holthaus; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marie Louise Holthaus; his maternal grandparents, Edwin and Mary Staggenborg; the mother of his 3 oldest siblings, Sue Ellen Holthaus (Nee Langdon).

Visitation: Thursday, October 17, 2013, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, October 18, 2013, from 8:00 to 9:30 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
