    George M. Luber, Jr., 81, of Pocahontas, IL died Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Highland Healthcare Center, Highland, IL. 

    George was born May 6, 1932, to George and Alvina (Nee Frey) Luber, in Rural Pocahontas, IL.  On August 7, 1954 he married Susanne R. “Sue” Hug, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL. 

    He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Pocahontas, IL and a member of Bond County Soil and Water District.  George was a retired factory worker and farmer, having worked at Rock-Tenn (now Jefferson Smurfit), General Steel, Granite City, IL, and in his younger years Artex and Highland Machine and Screw, Highland, IL.

    He is survived by his wife, Susanne “Sue” Luber, Pocahontas, IL; 2 sons, Andrew (Patricia) Luber, Carlock, IL and Patrick (Jennifer Nelson) Luber, Grand Forks, ND; 1 granddaughter, Elizabeth Luber, Champaign, IL; 1 brother, Kenneth (Sandy) Luber, Troy, MO.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alvina Luber; 2 sisters, Loretta Kantner and Mildred Cox; 6 brothers, Ray, Herb, Omar, Jerome, Paul and Ivan Luber.

    Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, Alzheimer’s Association or Masses.

    Visitation: Thursday, July 11, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL, and Friday, July 12, 2013, from 9:00 to 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Pocahontas, IL.

    Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:00 am, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Pocahontas, IL.

    Clergy: Fr. Scott Snider, Parochial Vicar

    Interment: Highland City Cemetery
