    Robert “Bob” Loomis, Jr., 91, of Highland, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Born January 13, 1934, in New Madrid, MO, to Robert F. and Lillian (nee Hamilton) Loomis, Sr., he married Shirley Jackson on May 30, 1956, in Highland, IL.

    Bob moved to Highland in 1958 and served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He was a member of WOW in Highland and Labor Hall 397 in Edwardsville and retired from Korte & Luitjohan. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, stock car races, puzzles, westerns, and time with his grandchildren.

    A hardworking and humorous man, Bob was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He will be missed deeply.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Loomis; father, Robert F. Loomis, Sr.; mother, Lillian Loomis; stepmother, Ruth Loomes; daughter-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” Loomis; siblings, Irene Marti, Mary Juanita Loomis (in childhood), Jim Gothard, Patsy Ann Beardsley, and Steve (Katrina) Loomes.

    Bob is survived by his children, Michael “Mike” Loomis, Highland, IL, and Robin Loomis, Highland, IL; fostered daughter, Denise (Bill) Getz; grandchildren, Rachel M. (Anthony, Sr.) (nee Price) Finley, Alhambra, IL, Riva M. (Justin) (nee Price) Weiss, Highland, IL, Ronald S. (Nicole) Price, Denver, CO, and Jason A. (Julie) Kreke, Cedar Hill, MO; great grandchildren, Anthony Finley, Jr., Alhambra, IL, Alexis (Noah Ruiz) Finley, Louisville, KY, Wyatt Weiss, Highland, IL, Lainey Weiss, Highland, IL, Hailey (Antonio) (nee Price) Jackson, California, Emma (Dale) (nee Price) Lowrimore, Virginia, Caleb Price, Hannah Price, Carlee Price, Landon Price, Kloe Price, all of Colorado, Bella Kreke, Leo Kreke, Silas Kreke, Elsie Kreke, Samuel Kreke, Jeremiah Kreke, James Kreke, Lydia Kreke, Benjamin Kreke, Everett Kreke, and Lewis Kreke, all of Cedar Hill, MO; great-great grandchild, Blakely Lowrimore, Virginia; siblings, Lucy (Bob) Ellis, Bill Gothard, Cliff Pate, Calvin Loomes, Dickie (Patty) Loomis, Alfred (Mary) Loomes, Charlie (Dee) Loomes, and Van (Alicia) Loomes; brothers-in-law, Jerry Marti and Charles Beardsley; goddaughter, Tonya (fiancé, Cody Hillyard) Bauer; and many nieces and nephews.

    Memorial donations may be made to HSHS Hospice.

    Visitation: Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, and Monday, January 27, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL

    Funeral Service: Monday, January 27, 2025, 10:00 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL

    I remember when I first met Bob he was just the funniest fella I’d ever met, him and my mama was good friends, we meet at kellys for lunch and he would always always give me some sorta laugh or be pickin on me… we are gunna miss BOB.

    Thank you Bob for the time I got to know you! I miss the invitation to have breakfast with you and Robin! And a few supper times I truly enjoyed! You were a man who truely loved his wife and never failed to show it! Together at last, I’m sure you are dancing and smiling, Thank you for some wonderful memories even tho they were short, they were memorable. God allows certain souls in our lives who leave their place in our hearts and you were one. Love n Hugs to your family as they will miss you dearly my friend.
