    Dalila Hernandez Garcia, 78, of Maryville, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, peacefully surrounded by her family.

    She was born on March 12, 1946, in Honduras, Central America, to Lauriano Hernandez and Santos Garcia.

    Known for her strength, kindness, and devotion, she was the beloved matriarch of her family and a guiding light to all who knew her.

    Dalila had a zest for life and a love for simple joys. She enjoyed solving crosswords, nurturing her garden, and cooking for her children and grandchildren. Her greatest passion, however, was her family. Dalila was the cornerstone of her loved ones' lives, always offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. She created a home where everyone felt welcome and celebrated, leaving a legacy of warmth and togetherness.

    Dalila is survived by her children, Maria E. Miralda Hernandez, Gina (Paul) Meyer, Jolker D. Contreras Hernandez, Carlos A. Hernandez, Reyna (Jorge Ponce Hernandez) Hernandez; grandchildren, Johnny Torres, Maria (Matthew) Short, Austin Canaday, Kayla (Justin) Schulte, Cesar (Kayla Baker) D. Contreras, Laura Gonzolas, Cristian J. Hernandez, Karla Hernandez, Michael Hernandez, George Ponce Hernandez, Ryan A. Ponce Hernandez, and Ashley M. Ponce Hernandez; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many loving friends.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Lauriano Hernandez and Santos Garcia; grandson, Michael Fraise.

    Visitation: Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home, in Collinsville, IL. Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, at St. Stephens Church in Caseyville, IL.

    Funeral Service: Saturday, January 18, 2025, 10:00 AM, St. Stephens Church, Caseyville, IL.

    Burial at Ss Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
