Bruce L. Weiss, 70, of Pocahontas, IL, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Greenville Nursing and Rehab in Greenville, IL.

He was born on August 20, 1954, in Highland, IL, to Willard and Betty (nee Hagler) Weiss. On September 13, 1998, he married Teresa Shaw at the First Baptist Church in Greenville, IL.

Bruce grew up in Highland, IL, then moved to Pocahontas where he graduated from Bond County Community #2 High School in 1972. He did a year at a trade school for construction in St. Louis, MO, following high school. Later in life, Bruce owned and operated his own construction business, making boat docks and decks primarily; he even built the deck at his and Teresa’s house, at his in-laws, and did many home renovations for members of his community. For 15 years, Bruce built boat docks, some looking like houses with multiple floors, out at Governor Bond Lake in Greenville. In his younger years, Bruce tried his hand at roofing and played in multiple softball and pool leagues.

A quiet and softhearted man, Bruce would often do free jobs for people. He loved animals, mowing his yard, working on various projects, and talking with the many friends he had over the years. Bruce will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Betty Weiss; maternal grandmother, Helen Hagler; brother, Mark Weiss; nephew, Matt Weiss; and uncle, Bud Hagler.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 26 years, Teresa Weiss; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Pat Shaw; brothers, Terry (Judy) Weiss, David (Sandy) Weiss, Randy (Terri) Weiss; sisters, Debbie (Dennis) Glisson, Jody (Peter) Vankleef; sister-in-law, Cyndi Weiss; brothers-in-law, Steve (Angela) Shaw, Allan (Dena) Shaw; aunts, Joann Powell, Carol Hagler; and many beloved nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Teresa Weiss.

Per his wishes, Bruce is being cremated and will have a private celebration of life at a later date.

I remember the first time meeting Bruce, I was city girl going to the farm the first time. He made me feel so welcomed. So easy to talk too and his love of animals. He talked me into getting my first cat from the farm. Bruce was the only person who could fix hotdogs at least twenty different ways. So many happy memories of Bruce. You will always be in my heart and will be missed. Love Sandy
