Barbara Jo Cleary Scott, 82, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at her daughter’s home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 22, 1942, in Waco, TX, to Charles Thomas and Vincennes (nee Tamburello) Cleary.

After college, Barbara worked as a physical therapy assistant in Highland, IL, owned her own trucking business, then returned to Highland as a medical record specialist.

Traveling the United States, and ultimately, the world was engrained in Barbara at a very young age. With her father in the Air Force, she and her family moved all over the country to places like Connecticut, Texas, Illinois, and Florida. As she grew older, her love for travel only grew, taking her family on trips locally here in the United States, as well as abroad.

However, family always came first in Barbaras life and everything she did was a testament to her love for them. She worked hard to make sure that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would be cared for, and so that she could share her love of traveling with them, creating wonderful memories that they will always cherish long after she is gone. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt and friend and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Thomas and Vincennes Cleary; sister, Charleen Taylor (James); granddaughter, Caitlin Kerker; cousin, Maureen (Tom) Lochmann.

We Steve and Sandy Banks and daughter Stacey bought and lived in VIN’s house across the street. They were great neighbors. Another memory we have is the homemade Vino in the basement the day we looked at the house and than someone dumped it all out right before we moved in. Sure would have liked to tasted it! lol. Sending our thoughts and prayers to all of you
