    Steven K. “Steve” Mueller, 69, of Lebanon, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at his home.

    He was born on April 29, 1955, in Highland, IL, to James Ralph “Onion” and Frances Jean (nee Baer) Mueller.

    Steve has lived in Lebanon his entire life, graduating from Lebanon High School in 1973, then attended a floral design school in Denver, CO. In his younger years, Steve enjoyed traveling, having gone to Europe with his high school class, then various trips to the East Coast with his close friends. He owned and operated Steven Mueller Florist in O’Fallon for over 35 years where his floral creativity made an impact on many people in his surrounding communities. Through his business, Steve was a member of the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed watching reruns of Parks and Recreation, The Office, Gilmore Girls, and above all else, he loved designing flowers. A dedicated, hardworking, and kind man, Steve will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ralph “Onion” and Frances Jean Mueller.

    Steve is survived by his brother, Don (Sharon) Mueller, Lebanon, IL; sister, Jan (Dave) Dougherty, Villa Park, IL; nephews, Adam (Alicia) Mueller, Daren Mueller, Josh (Rina) Dougherty; great nephew, Kayden Mueller; and a host of friends.

    Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul UCC in Lebanon, IL

    I was so sad to hear of Steve’s passing. I was just a kid when he worked at Smitty’s Supermarket as a high schooler. I remember him seeming so TALL and was always so nice. He grew to be just a lovely, dear man. I moved to Florida in 2013 but I still called Steve whenever I needed to send flowers to someone back home. I did it partly because I knew his work was the best…but it also gave me a good excuse to catch up.

    Steve you filled the world with so much beauty and you will be missed by many.

    I am sad to hear of Steve’s passing. His flowers were definitely distinctive and you could always tell that they were Steve’s creations. I have yet to find someone in my area now in Flagstaff, AZ, that has the same talent that had the same “flair.” He will definitely be missed.

    When I meet Steven he had a small shop in Lebanon, IL . Never did I see such beautiful arrangements and decorations. His smile and attention to detail was amazing. Steven and his wonderful staff designed the most stunning flowers for my daughter’s wedding and arranged everything perfectly!
    Many years later my granddaughter, Bella, died in a car accident and they took great care in the design, since Bella loved the tropical flowers. Now he will have the flowers of paradise
    I will never forget him Rest in Peace Steven.

    Steve was truly a class act for O’Fallon, Illinois. His personality and dedication to serving so many will be remembered well. A great, gifted and talented person as to remember.always. Sincere condolences to his family.

    We begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived…your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget… your many trips to Chicago with Pearl to visit me… your many trips to the East coast… may the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear… how much we miss and love you and wish you were back here.     Steve will be missed so very much. He was a wonderful floral designer. I have many of his floral pieces in my home. So sad he is gone.

    I will forever miss saying when ordering flowers for Nila… “Just let Steven do his thing” when asked how I want the arrangement to be!! So sad and a hell of a friend!! You WILL be missed by many!!!

    Steve was my friend for almost 40 years. I was so saddened to learn of his passing. I am so thankful to have had him as my friend and my florist for all these years. I pray that he is at peace and making his home in heaven as beautiful as he made so many of ours. A truly kind and gentle man. My sincerest condolences to his family.

    Steve was such a wonderful so kind gentleman. His designs are nothing like I’ve ever seen. He made my house designs so so beautiful. Shopping for Christmas was the best place to find beautiful unique items. He was always smiling and I know the staff admired him! Thoughts and prayers to his family❤️

    We are so sad to hear of Steve’s passing. We missed seeing his obituary and was totally shocked when we heard this very sad news today. We sincerely extend our sympathy to all his family and friends who loved him so very much. He will be missed by all. He had an eye for beauty and was so very creative.

    Steve was a dear friend of our family for 50 years. He and my grandmother worked together at Bill Crotty’s in Belleville. He and my mother, Jennifer, were always having fun and making mischief. I was grateful to come back and see Steve this past March to let him know how much we all loved him, as so many did. He was a dear, sweet man. My condolences to all.
