Eugene Kelsey, 86, of Bone Gap, Illinois passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at his residence in Bone Gap, Illinois.

Eugene was born January 23, 1938 to Raymond and Edna (Gumbrell) Kelsey. He married his wife Lulu in April of 1957 and they enjoyed many happy years together until her passing in 2019.

Eugene was a lifelong Edwards County dairy and livestock farmer. He served as a Elder and Deacon at the Bone Gap Christian Church, where he was a lifelong member. He was a long serving member of the Edwards County Fair Board, and a 4-H leader of the Bone Gap Cardinals 4-H Club for over 20 years. He enjoyed his family and friends and always had a smile.

He is survived by 6 children – 2 daughters, Julie (Alan) Freeman, and Sara Kelsey; 4 sons, Clay (Susie) Kelsey, Clint (Tammy) Kelsey, Chris (Teresa) Kelsey; and Scott (Shannon) Kelsey. A brother, Ronald Kelsey also survives. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lulu; 2 grandchildren, Kimberly Kelsey and Reed Kelsey; a son-in-law, George Luthe; and a brother, Jack Kelsey.

Visitation for Eugene Kelsey will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Bone Gap Christian Church in Bone Gap, Illinois with funeral services at 12:00 noon following visitation. Burial will be in the Bone Gap Cemetery in Bone Gap, Illinois.

Memorials in memory of Eugene Kelsey can be made to the Reed Kelsey Memorial Scholarship Fund or to the Bone Gap Cardinals 4-H Club. Envelopes will be available at the church.
