Harry F. Duncan, 77, of Browns, Illinois passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

Harry was born March 5, 1947 to Manny and Isabel Duncan. Harry lived his whole life in Browns, Illinois. He married Carolyn Farris on February 4, 1966. They were married for 58 years.

Harry spent his entire career in construction. He worked with his father and was a member of the Local 636 Carpenters Union. He ran Duncan Construction with his family for many years.

Harry served 32 years as the mayor of the Village of Browns. He held the title of the second longest serving mayor in the state of Illinois. He was also a lifetime member of the Browns Volunteer Fire Department and was a former Chief.

Harry loved hunting and fishing and passed that passion on to his children and grandchildren. He also loved baseball, being a huge Cardinals fan and also followed Edwards County games. He really enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play ball and shoot competition archery.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two sons, James (Jennifer) Duncan of Browns, and Jeff (Heather) Duncan of Albion; grandchildren Kelsey (Austin) Barrett of Grayville, Johnathan (Chelsea) Duncan of Albion, Cheyenne Duncan and Josie Duncan of Albion, and Connor Duncan of Browns; and one great grandchild, Kara Barrett of Grayville. He is also survived by a brother, John (Denise) Duncan of Browns, and a sister, Janice (Bruce) Evenson of Modesto, California. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Edward Duncan.

Visitation for Harry F. Duncan will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, Illinois with funeral services at 12:00 noon following visitation. Burial will be in Browns Cemetery, Browns, Illinois.

The family has requested casual attire for the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Browns Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at the time of services, or at Ingram-Meridith Funeral Home in Albion, who is in charge of arrangements.
