Jaedin Rich Yurkanin, age 20, of Albion, Illinois passed away at 11:14 pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in a tragic car accident on his way home.

Jaedin was born on February 9, 2004 in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Michael Joseph Yurkanin and Amanda (Steinman) Kuehneman. He graduated from Edwards County High School with the class of 2022. He had a tremendous work ethic and a drive to keep busy. He began working at McDonald’s as soon as he turned 16, as well as being employed by Wal-Mart. When he wasn’t working, Jaedin enjoyed camping, grilling out, playing video games, listening to music, and anything to do with cars, but more than anything, his greatest joy was to spend time with his three sisters, family, and friends. He excelled at being a big brother, son, nephew, cousin, and friend, and earned the cherished nicknames of “Tractor” and “Baby Jay.” There simply was no better example of selfless love, loyalty, and devotion than he.

Jaedin is survived by his Dad—Michael “Mike” Yurkanin and special friend, Rene Baughman, of Bridgeport, IL; step-dad—Tim Kuehneman of Albion, IL; Sisters—Larissa Yurkanin, Arian “Boo” Shelby, and Maezlyn “Mazie” Shelby all of Albion, IL; Step-brothers—Ben and Trey Baughman of Bridgeport, IL; Grandfathers—Stuart Smith and Michael (Stacia) Yurkanin, Sr.; Uncles—Samuel (KJ) Zuber and James (Kim) Yurkanin; Aunt—Ann (Craig) Knoblauch; and Cousins—Landon and Collin Zuber, and Jeremiah and Donovan Smith.

Jaedin was preceded in death by his Mom—Amanda Kuehneman; Siblings—Marissa and Gavin Griffith; Cousin—Austin Zuber; Grandparents—Shirley Yurkanin, Patricia Smith, Randy Steinman, Richard Swarens, and Chris Zuber; and Great-grandparents—Sam & Linda Zuber.

Services for Jaedin Yurkanin will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm at Beall Woods State Park, Shelter #2. If weather is inclement, services will be moved to House of Prayer, Albion, Illinois.

Attendees are asked to bring camping chairs in memory of Jaedin. Jaedin would appreciate casual dress by those attending his service.

Jaedin was one of the purest people I have ever met. He was always himself and genuinely cared for the people in his life. I was not anywhere near as close as others were with him in high school, but I can say he would have still been there for me if I needed him. Talking to Jaedin was like a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of the high school. My prayers are to the loved ones of Jaedin and his crew❤️
