  • Full Obituary

Dale Robert Hoffarth, 67, of Trenton, IL, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, in Shiloh, IL.

He was born on September 6, 1955, in East St. Louis, IL, to Dale Frederick Hoffarth and Jacquelin (Nee McCarey) Brendel. Dale lived most of his life in the area and the best part of it with Jill Weil, his significant other of 33 years.

Dale learned to drive at a very young age and made it his life’s work. For more than 40 years, he was a professional trucker, and was known by the CB handle ‘Bullet’. During his career at USF Holland, he was a member of Teamsters Local 600. Prior to that, he was a member of Teamsters Local 50.

To say he was an avid golfer is putting it mildly, because if Dale could play golf every day, he would. He played many courses through the years with a group of 30 other golfers. He reserved Father’s Day to play with his children. He was a member of the USGA 1894 Club since 1994.

A staunch St. Louis Blues fan and supporter, his name is etched in a brick that lays between greats Bernie Federco and Brett Hull.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Dale Frederick Hoffarth, and his son, Colt Joseph Hoffarth.

He is survived by his significant other, Jill Weil; children, Aaron Michael (Elizabeth) Hoffarth, Collinsville, IL, and Christen Lynn (Robert) Zirkelbach, Belleville, IL; grandchildren, Madison Olivia Zirkelbach and Lincoln Joseph Hoffarth; mother, Jacquelin Brendel; brother, Robin Joseph (Catherine) Hoffarth, Littleton, CO.

Memorials may be made to Donor’s choice.

I remember Dale and I were uptown Lebanon and he had his pickup truck that had a bug shield that read Against The Wind on it. I had my Lil Red Express and we were both reving our engines up at 2:00AM! Everytime we talked we always brought that up, always made us laugh. You will be missed

I never met you in person, but I felt like I knew you from all the stories your mom has told me. I met her when I was about 16 and I’m now 65. I know she loved you with all her heart. She liked spending time with you whether it was just a trip to the store or a good fish fry. You will be missed by so many

Really shocked to read about Dale. He was a good friend of mine in our teen years and early age adults. Life happened and we lost contact through the years which have flown by. He was a lot of fun and a great poker player, lost many games to him. Never could beat him in pool games. Seems like yesterday. RIP Dale, until we meet again.

Jill, I am so sorry to hear about Dale, and sorry that I just now found out. You probably know this, but I met Dale in the late 90’s when he was trucking and I was working at CC Food Mart. He would pull around back to get fuel and press the button for me to turn it on. I always said “Go ahead” but he always thought he heard something else. I always enjoyed chatting with him. I’m glad you two had such a great long time together. RIP “Goat Head”. 😉❤️
