    Udell I. “Chick” Harris, 88, of Highland, IL, died March 16, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.

    He was born June 17, 1923, to Irwin and Maybelle (nee Willman) Harris, in Alhambra, IL. On August 23, 1945 he married Cecelia E. “Ceil” Horn, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Grantfork, IL.

    He attended St. Louis University and graduated with a degree in Accounting. He worked for Ralston Purina, St. Louis, MO for 31 years and then worked for Washington University, School of Architecture, for 14 years.

    Chick was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL. A former member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Louis, MO. He was founder and current member of American Political Items Collectors Association. He served as editor of the newsletter, Keynoter, for the first 17 years. He was a member of Gateway Postcard Club, Belleville, IL and Kevin Club of Immaculate Conception Parish, St. Louis, MO. With his wife, Ceil, he was a member of Womens’ Suffrage Memorabilia. He was a supporter of Father Paul Kalas’ STYDEC project in Ghana. He funded scholarships at St. Paul Education Foundation and Highland Area Community Foundation. He was a big supporter of St. Louis University, donating his Presidential collection to them for display.

    He is survived by his brother, Roland (Lorna) Harris, Highland, IL; 4 nephews, Paul Harris, Oregon, John (Lucy) Harris, St. Louis, Mark (Mimi) Harris, Winnetka, IL, Luke (Amber) Harris, Glen Carbon, IL; 14 great nieces and nephews, 5 great-great nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Irwin and Maybelle Harris, June 6, 1995 and August 8, 2001, respectively; his wife, Ceil Harris, May 30, 2008.

    Memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church for Masses or St. Paul Education Foundation.

    Visitation: Sunday, March 18, 2012, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, March 19, 2012, from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.

    Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, March 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL
