Jane E. Aldrich, 72, of Highland, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.

She was born on December 17, 1949, in Highland, IL, to Carl and Edith (nee Kamm) Beichel. Jane married Edward “Ed” Aldrich on September 18, 1970, at the EvUCC in Highland, IL.

Jane was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland.

She lived in Highland her whole life and held various occupations. Some of her jobs included being a beautician, working at the post office, helping with the Census, and the rest area at Silver Lake.

Having many hobbies, Jane liked to read, play board games like Yahtzee and Scrabble, and do jigsaw puzzles. One of her recent favorites was playing “Words with Friends” online. She was also a great cook. Her family was the most important thing to her as she loved going to watch her grandchildren’s sports games. She was kindhearted, competitive, and a practical joker. Above all, she was a wonderful woman with a big heart that will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Edith Beichel; sister, Mary Stoff; and brother-in-law, Leland “Lee” Stoff.

Jane is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ed Aldrich; son, Karl (Dawn) Aldrich; grandchildren, Blake Aldrich, Madison Aldrich, Jackson Aldrich; brothers, John (Debbie) Beichel, Carl “Chuck” (Paula) Beichel, James “Jim” Beichel, Kurtis (Vickie) Beichel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Highland Animal Shelter, or the Latzer Memorial Public Library.

To Ed and family; I and Russell send our sympathy and prayers to the family. Russell and Ed worked many years at the Highland schools. During this time we met Jane. We had many times together. But we always had fun at trivia nights, playing games at each others homes, eating out and just talking and telling stories. Jane was a lot of fun and we are going to miss her.
