  • Full Obituary

Willie "Dan" Daniel, Jr. 79, of Lebanon, Ill., born Oct. 20, 1936, in Holt, Alabama departed this life on Thursday, June 2, 2016, after a long courageous battle with lung cancer.

He fought long and hard until the end, always keeping a positive attitude and smile on his face.

Dan accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early in life at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Holt, Alabama. Later, he became a member of Greater Mount Olive Church in Lebanon, Ill. He entered into the United States Air Force, and proudly served in the Vietnam War representing our country. After retiring from the Air Force, he embarked on a new career working in civil service at Scott Airforce Base, Ill. His love for his country was reflected in all he did. He truly was a proud veteran, accepting the responsibility to defend America and uphold our values each and every time duty called.

Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, nephew, uncle, and an extraordinary friend! He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Mae Davis; father, Willie Daniel Sr.; and a brother, Marvin Daniel.

His love for his family and friends never went unnoticed. He instilled wisdom, strength and pride into all of us, always offering an encouraging word.

Dan leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Margaret (Glenn) Daniel; his sons, Alphonso G. (Faye) Daniel and family of Belleville, Ill., Roy T. (Tara) Randall and family of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Adrian (Mashall) Webster of Lebanon, Ill.; three daughters, Yvette Jensen and Denise Ray of Lebanon, Ill., and Tonya (Ed) Williams of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters, Artric Daniel Randall and family of Holt, Ala., and Maxine Daniel Abrams and family of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a brother, Cleveland M. Daniel of Holt, Ala.; and a host of grandchildren, Breauna, Parnell, Christopher, Haleigh, Tara, Kristen, Sarah, Angela, Dennis, Savannah, Darien, Kiera, D'andre and Cameron.

Dan also leaves his memory to be cherished by a host of other very special family and friends.

    GOD'S GARDEN

God looked around his garden And found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth, And saw Dan's tired face. He put His arms around him And lifted him to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that he was suffering, He knew that he was in pain. He knew that he would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb. So He closed his weary eyelids And whispered "Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone... For part of us went with you The day God called you home.

Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements may be sent to Greater Mount Olive Church in Lebanon Ill., by 9 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016.
