      William Ray “Bill” Monroe, 81, of Lebanon, IL, passed away, Thursday, March 26, 2020, at his home.

      Bill was born September 07, 1938, in Lebanon, IL, to George and Lilly (nee May) Monroe.  On June 7, 1958, he married Nancy Terry in Lebanon, IL.

      Bill was a Retired Air Force Veteran, a lifetime member of The Masons, Shriners, Eastern Star, and American Legion.  He worked as a sheet metal employee until his retirement . Bill had a wide variety of jobs he loved in his life, including being a Lebanon, IL, Police officer, a truck driver, and many more.  He was a father and inspiration to many kids. He drove, and did whatever asked, by The Belleville Black Knights Drum and Bugle corp. He was an avid hunter and fisherman that loved the outdoors.

      He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Monroe; daughter, Terri Monroe; son, John Terry; and beloved nephews, Michael and Lenard Andrews; a niece, Susan Phipps .

      He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lilly Monroe; two sisters, Fern Kombrin and Gracie Monroe; four brothers, Bernie, George Jr, Charles, and Glenn Monroe; and a son he raised, Charles Terry.

      A Remembrance Service will be held at a later date, due to the Covid-19 gathering restrictions.

      Interment: Private, in College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, IL.

      Meridith Funeral Home, Lebanon, IL.
