    Ruth M. Schoolfield, 89, of Stockbridge, GA, formerly of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Piedmont Hospital, GA.

    Ruth was born April 6, 1927 to Frank and Margaret (nee Widmer) Grimmer, in Highland, IL. On June16, 1972 she married Dr. Walter R. Schoolfield. in Highland, IL.

    She attended Washington University, studying the Arts, later working for Styx Baer & Fuller as a seamstress and dressmaker. She made her own clothing and hats for herself and her children. Ruth then started the Highland Print Shop and was a member of what is now the BPW. She later moved to Florida finishing her College degree and taught school in the Monroe County Florida School District for 8 years. She was an avid watercolor and oil painter, entering many shows in Florida. She was a loving Mother and Grandmother to her family.

    She is survived by her children, Robert L. Rehberger, Stockbridge, GA, Dr. Linda M. (Charles) Sommercorn, Libertyville, IL, Jeffery L. (Tisha) Rehberger, Highland, IL; stepdaughter, Myra S. Schoolfield, PA; stepson, Sanford R. “Sandy” Schoolfield, Miami, FL; grandchildren, Jeffrey J. Rehberger, Michael E. Sommercorn, Kay Lynn Rehberger, Jenna N. Sommercorn; step-grandchildren, Laura (nee Smith) Barry, Jessica Lowe, Justin Lowe, Cody Lowe, Caitlyn Lowe; numerous great-grandchildren, and special friends, Mauro and Hermine Imerito.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret Grimmer; her first husband, Dr. Amos Joseph, “A.J.” Rehberger, whom she married June 4, 1948; her second husband, Dr. Walter R Schoolfield; son, Gregory Joseph Rehberger; brother, Edward Grimmer; sisters, Irma (nee Grimmer) Compton, Dorothy (nee Grimmer) Bellm.

    Memorials may be made to St Paul Church, The Alzheimer’s Association or The American Heart Association.
