Russell “Dewey” Aper, 65, of Pocahontas, IL, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at his residence, with his family by his side.
Dewey was born July 15, 1951, to Weldon and Blanche (Nee Klokkenga) Aper, in Lincoln, IL. On April 29, 1983, he married Tina Zucca in Greenville, IL.
Dewey graduated high school from Hartsburg-Emden High, Emden, IL. He was a member of Greenville Country Club. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and general outdoorsman. He loved to play pool and hunt mushrooms. Dewey never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by father, Weldon Aper.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Aper, Pocahontas, IL; mother, Blanche Aper, Emden, IL; children, Tasha (Ben) Jamroz, Superior, CO, Sarah Aper, St. Louis, MO, Rusty Aper, Highland, IL and great niece, Paris Webb, Pocahontas, IL; grandchildren, Dean Jamroz, Luke Jamroz; brothers and sisters, Lynn (Sandy) Aper, Lincoln, IL, Gene (Barb) Aper, Mountain View, AK, Penny (Kevin) McCoy, Delavan, IL, Amy (Bruce) Eads, Emden, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Oyate Sports Club, Pocahontas, IL or Lemuel Rhodes Cancer Foundation, Greenville, IL.
Visitation: Friday, October 28, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at United Methodist Church, Pocahontas, IL and Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 8:00 to 11:00 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.
