    Margaret “Margie” Duhasek (Née Schutzenhofer), 68, of Highland, IL, died Friday, August 1, 2014 in Highland, IL, with her family at her side.

    Margie was born August 26, 1945, to Joseph and Margaret (Née Egan) Schutzenhofer, in E. St. Louis, IL. Raised in Fairmont City, she graduated from St. Teresa Academy in 1963.

    A single mother who raised three college graduates, Margie worked as an accounting clerk for Feralloy Corporation in Granite City for over 25 years. Beloved mother, sister, aunt, and cousin, she was a devoted friend to countless others. A member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Margie was a selfless caregiver and an excellent listener whose involvement in the community was far-reaching. She was known for her quick wit, her storytelling gifts and her willingness to laugh.

    Margie is survived by her children, Keely (Liam Davis) Vasquez, Chicago, IL, Barry (significant other, Kortney Mueller) Duhasek, Highland, IL; daughter-in-law, Sarah Vasquez, Naples, FL; step-children, Jackie (Scott) Rader, Jonathon Duhasek; step-grandchildren, Morgan and Sydney; 1 sister, Jo Anne (Weldon) Theobald; 1 brother, William (Dolores) Schutzenhofer; former father-in-law, Albert Tarjany; 2 nephews, Jeff and Tim Theobald; 3 nieces, Maggie (Jack) Doran, Lisa Schutzenhofer, Susan (Vince) Nacewski; great-nephews, Justin, Jonathon, Will, Joseph; great-nieces, Sarah, Morgan, Ashley, Katelyn.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Schutzenhofer; 1 son, Gary Vasquez; former mother-in-law, Caroline Tarjany.

    Memorials may be made to her most cherished foundation, The Gary Vasquez Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Highland Area Community Foundation.
