    Gordon W. Clanton, Jr., 66, of Pocahontas, IL, died Monday, February 8, 2016, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

    Gordon was born October 30, 1949, to Gordon and Edna (nee Rommerskirchen) Clanton, Sr., in Highland, IL. 

    After high school, he enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam.  He was a member of Wolf Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Mansfield, MO. 

    He worked for the Tobar-Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield, MO, for several years, and several other companies before starting the Clanton Express Trucking Company approximately 12 years ago.

    He is survived by his mother, Edna Clanton, Pocahontas, IL; children, Shane (Cassandra) Potts, Pocahontas, IL, Shelly Clanton, Springfield, MO, Bobby Clanton, Norwood, MO, Brandy Potts, Marshfield, MO, and Chad Clanton, Springfield, MO; sisters, Barbara (Harry) Elledge, Wickensburg, AZ, Rebecca Hess, Pocahontas, IL, Virginia (Gerald) Potts, Pocahontas, IL; brother, David (Pam) Clanton, Pocahontas, IL; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Clanton, Sr.; brother, Richard Clanton, in infancy.

    Memorials may be made to the Alexander Disease Foundation.

    Visitation:  Thursday, February 11, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, and Friday, February 12, 2016, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, at the Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.

    Memorial Service:  Friday, February 12, 2016, at 11:00 am, at Meridith Funeral Home, Pocahontas, IL.

    Clergy:  Dr. Greg Sanders, Pastor, 1st Baptist Church, Pocahontas, IL.

    Interment:  At a later date.
