      Gloria G. Tanner (Nee Perkins), 73, of Highland, IL, died Saturday, March 12, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, IL.

      Gloria was born July 15, 1942 to Herbert and Virgie (Nee Brown) Perkins, in Coldwater, MS. On May 5, 1956, she married Frank Tanner in Holly Spring, MS.

      She loved being around her family and lived for time with her grandson. She was very understanding and forgiving, never holding a grudge.  Gloria was outgoing, funny and strongly opinionated, but was happiest when people around her were happy.  She was an avid reader and volunteered as an election judge anytime she could.  She supported the Humane Society, ASPCA and Oceanographic Society.

      Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Virgie Perkins; brothers and sisters, Horace Perkins, Morris Perkins, Norris Perkins, Eldon Perkins, Michael Perkins, Cynthia Lawson, Helen Richardson, Maxine “Shorty” Childress.

      She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank Tanner, Highland, IL; son, David (special friend, Faith Eck) Tanner, Highland, IL; grandson, Joshua Tanner; brother and sister, Diane Ewing, Bristol, TN, Jimmy (Ann) Perkins, Memphis, TN; several nieces and nephews.
