Donald F. Lohman, 66, of Highland, IL, died Friday, June 3, 2016, at Kindred Hospital at St. Anthony’s, St. Louis, MO.

Don was born November 17, 1949, to Anthony “Buck” and Florence (nee Goestenkors) Lohman, in Highland, IL. On April 14, 1973, he married Kathleen Voss at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Breese, IL.

He was a graduate of Mater Dei High School and SIU-E with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. He worked as a Police Officer for the City of Highland for 24 years, retiring as a Sergeant in 2000, then became a Utility Locator for the City of Highland, retiring in June 2015.

He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, the American Legion, the Police Pension Board, Knights of Columbus Council 1580, 4th Degree Assembly, and the Franciscan Associate for Hospital Sisters of St. Francis. He was active in Cursillo Movement, was a former Scout Master, Troop 40, was a Charter Organization Representative of the Boy Scouts, and he Co-founded the New Switzerland Model Railroad Club.

Don adored his grandchildren, loved nature, was an avid walker—walked to work for 39 years, loved to travel, and a selfless man who would give the shirt off of his back. But most of all, he saw God in all creations.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Lohman, Highland, IL; mother, Florence Lohman, Aviston, IL; children, Kelli (Todd) Dempsey, St. Louis, MO and Casey (Anne) Lohman, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Cammie Dempsey and Blake Zarinelli; brothers, David (Donna) Lohman, Aviston, IL, Dennis (Barb) Lohman, Aviston, IL, Jim (Sue) Lohman, Aviston, IL; sister, Ann (Keith) Wilhelm, O’Fallon, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony “Buck” Lohman.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Education Foundation or STYDEC (St. Therese Youth Development Center) International.
