    Dallas Harvey, 95, of Highland, IL, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Faith Care Center, Highland, IL.

    Dallas was born March 8, 1919, to Jessie Earl and Cora E. (nee Worcester) Harvey in Schneider, IN.  On July 7, 1947, he married Rita Mae Drake in Great Lakes, IL.

    He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Highland, IL.  He was also a member of the VFW, American Legion, Military Officers of America Association, Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Associate Staff for Campus Crusade for Christ Military Ministry.

    He joined the Navy in 1937.  He was stationed at Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and as a Pearl Harbor Survivor, he said, “I saw the first bomb drop.”  He served with the Navy and Marine Corps during WWII as a Corpman.  He was one of the first 40 officers chosen to command the Naval Medical Service Corps and retired in 1967 after 30 years.  In retirement, he was one of three primaries who established the Military Ministry for Campus Crusade for Christ, which impacted military families’ lives for another 30 years.

    He is survived by his wife, Rita Mae Harvey, Highland, IL; 2 sons, Steve (Debbie) Harvey, Detroit, MI, and Ed (Sylvia) Harvey, Highland, IL; 10 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; family friend, Kate Broadhurst.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Earl and Cora E. Harvey; 1 daughter, Sharla Harvey; Brothers and Sisters.

    Memorials may be made to the Central Illinois Honor Flight.
