    Carmon D. Thiems, 76, of Highland, IL, died Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at SSM De Paul Health Center, St. Louis, MO.

    Carmon was born January 14, 1938, to Dale and Virginia (nee Schrage) Thiems, in Highland, IL.  On August 9, 2014, he married Barbara Killion at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.

    He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.  He had a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters Degree in Engineering and Business Administration.  He worked at McDonnell Douglas, now Boeing, his entire adult life, except for five years at Basler Electric.

    He loved his family and spending time with them.  He especially loved baking cookies and coloring Easter eggs for his granddaughters.  He loved to sing and was active in the choir at his church.  He loved spending time at his cabin and birdwatching.  He also loved to bowl.

    He is survived by his wife, Barbara Thiems, Highland, IL; 1 daughter, Christy (Tom) Skallas,  Glenview, IL; 2 granddaughters, Alexandra and Anastasia; 1 sister, Donna (Dan) Kuhn, Port Townsend, WA; nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Virginia Thiems; his first wife, Janice Thiems (2011).

    Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.

    Visitation:  Friday, December 19, 2014, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL, and Saturday, December 20, 2014, from 9:00 to 10:00 am, at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.

    Funeral:  Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10:00 am at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland, IL.
