    Arlene “Arkie” Quitmeyer Gustafson (Nee Wiese), 92, of Highland, IL died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Highland Health Care Center, Highland, IL.

    Arkie was born January 22, 1924, to Fred and Louisa (Nee Steffens) Wiese, in Carlyle, IL. On June 27, 1942, she married Delmar Quitmeyer, this marriage ended in divorce in 1951.  She married Paul Gustafson on August 23, 1957 and he preceded her in death.

    Arkie was a devoted mother and grandmother and great-grandmother. She followed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as much as she could.  Arkie loved squeezes and hugs whenever she could get them.  She enjoyed embroidering, needlepoint and playing solitaire.

    She was also preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Louisa Wiese; her first husband, Delmar Quitmeyer; son, Don Quitmeyer, in infancy; granddaughter, Abbey Quitmeyer; brothers and sisters, Lester Wiese, Harold Wiese, Elvin Wiese, Gladys Hug, Laverna Ammann, Eleanor Bircher.

    Arkie is survived by her son, Neal (Kathy) Quitmeyer, Highland, IL; grandchildren, Mindy (Nick) Brown, Kevin (Abby) Quitmeyer; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Ashlyn, Madison Fenton, Hayden and Wayde Quitmeyer, Avery Arrington; sister-in-law, Gloria Sanders; God child, Debi (Alan) Hill; numerous nieces and nephews.

    Memorials may be made to Abbey Quitmeyer Scholarship Fund.

    Visitation: Friday, March 11, 2016, from 9:00 to 10:30 am at Meridith Funeral Home, Highland, IL.
