      Anne T. Griggs, 67, of Lebanon, Ill., and Lake Arrowhead, Calif., born Nov. 11, 1947, in Oslo, Norway, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, at Hospice of Southern Illinois in Edwardsville, Ill.

      As a student and as a military spouse, Anne lived in many places around the world, including Paris, France; Camp Lejeune, N.C.; Iwakuni, Japan; Olathe, Kan.; San Pedro, Calif.; New Orleans, La.; Lake Arrowhead, Calif.; Tokyo, Japan; and Lebanon, Ill. Along with her native Norwegian, she was fluent in several other languages, including Swedish, French and English.

      Anne enjoyed music, films, reading, traveling, a good French wine, and she was a member of the Norwegian Seamen's Lutheran Church in San Pedro, Calif., for many years. She made many friends in her numerous activities and enjoyed lifelong friendships and fellowship in her church congregation and with those lucky people she befriended in the many places she lived.

      Anne was preceded in death by her son, Kristian Griggs; her parents, Trygve and Gunvor Nerbye; and her father-in-law, George B. Griggs

      Surviving are her husband, Thomas Griggs; daughter, Kimberly Griggs; her brother, Torkel Nerbye; and her mother-in-law, Myrtle Griggs.

      There will be a small, graveside service for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends a donation to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
