    Alfred W. Kesman, 86, of Pocahontas, IL, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Highland Health Care Center, Highland, IL.

    Alfred was born on March 29, 1928, to Willis and Mildred Katherine (nee Trauernicht) Kesman, in New Douglas, IL.  On February 28, 1992, he married Norma Rose Thompson in Las Vegas, NV.

    He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Douglas, IL.  He was also a member of the New Douglas Fire Department.

    He was raised by his grandparents, John and Lizzy Trauernicht, and worked all of his life.  He worked for many years at Rosenthal Feed Mill, then drove a truck for Peterson Trucking.  He then worked for a local farmer, Harold Ernst.

    He is survived by 2 half brothers, William Andrew (Janet) Butler, Walter (Viola “Babe”) Butler; nieces and nephews, Alan (Terri) Mettler, Thomas (Vicky) Mettler, Jennifer Butler, Billy Butler, Peter Butler, Waltimer Wrott, June (Charles) Ridens, Cindy Butler, Denise (John) Embry, Clara Adler; 23 great nieces and nephews; and 20 great, great nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Mildred Katherine Kesman; wife, Norma Kesman (January 22, 2008); first wife, Christine Kesman (nee Osterman); 1 niece, Diane Donahue; 3 nephews-in-law, Robert Hooker, Harold “Bud” Adler, Dewey Donahue.

    Memorials may be made to New Douglas Fire Department or Heartland Hospice.
